I want to feed people. One hungry tummy at a time.
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to cook. But that's only half the joy. I love to feed people. I love seeing the pleasure on someone's face when they enjoy a good meal. I love putting that smile there. I remember family get together's at my grandparents ranch. I would wake up early make a pan of potato and eggs to go with my grandma's delicious tortilla's and I would watch as my family gobbled it up. Its a good feeling to feed someone.
I guess I get this from my grandmother, my aunts and my mother. Its true when they say the kitchen is the heart of the home. Every weekend growing up we were at the ranch. The men would BBQ outside chicken, ribs, fajita's, tripa's and sausage and sometimes a nice mouth watering brisket. The women would be inside talking around the kitchen table as dishes of potato salad, Spanish rice and beans were prepared. Also and endless line of desserts awaited our taste buds. Even though there was so much food already my grandmother would still be cooking everyone's favorites as well as a mountain of tortillas and pan de campo. Those were the days. Even though so much has changed that quality has never left me.
If I am ever given the chance financially I want to open a soup kitchen and feed as many people as I can. But not just people who need it. I would also like to extend that fork and spoon to our services workers. They do so much for us and put up with so much that I think they deserve it and I wouldn't charge. Donations would be welcome because that just means I can help more people but that's it. That's what I would do to change the world at least a little bit. No one should ever be hungry.
So what would you do? What are your thoughts?
Till next time...
Hugs
